On a perfect day....

So here I am! Sitting in my window, watching as the rain engulfs the city, flooding a few roads but making a beautiful scene of the ocean. Well, sitting like this makes you want to think, want to read a novel with a cup of coffee in one hand ( I know! I don't drink coffee but see the magic : what the awesome smell at Barista could not do, simple rain has done ! ) , or want to write something. So, here I am!

20 days of the vacation have flown by and something's changed. I can feel it in the air, all around me. I can feel it in me! Everything feels right. The smallest thing puts a smile on the face. A single raindrop slowly descending from the sky makes me happy today.

So, what has changed? Why is life suddenly so perfect? Yep, you guessed it! I have fallen in love! For quite sometime, I knew that there was this 'something' missing in my life - the love of my life - MUMBAI!!!

Never knew this as clearly before as I do now.
Mumbai inspires me.
It encourages me to do things that I shied away from before.
It tempts, but teaches what to be tempted by and what to leave behind.
It helps you find out who you are, who you want to be.
It teaches you to see the magic in every problem, the bright side of everything,
the lighter side to life.
Anything and everything seems within reach here.
After all, MUMBAI is not the city of dreams for nothing!

So, dedicated to MUMBAI and finding a new side to me today - my shayari

नैनो में हजारों सपने सजने लगे,
तेरे चेहरे पे आके थमने लगे
पता ही नहीं चला ये कब हुआ,

पर तेरी बाहों में आके, हम सवारने लगे

love you Mumbai!

Kuch to hua hai

The elective lectures are always really boring and we always do something else only....so, today, I decided to make good use of my time...and thus was born this poem......

There is something in the air..
Is it the touch of summer,
Or is it just me..
That I just want to be!

It feels like my mind and heart have merged,
And in my hands is the whole world;
Somehow I feel like I have been set free;
And can do anything, even climb a tree! ;-)

A lot of new dreams brewing in my mind,
Dozens of paths, I want to find;
Yes! Today, in my hands is the whole world,
And my vision is totally unblurred!

'IF'

Just love this poem by Rudyard Kipling. It tells one a lot of things that tends to get forgetten as you get caught up in the moment and our own emotions; and makes one see the bigger picture in life.

And finally I made the effort to find it… so here it is:

‘IF’

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Uncomfortable "Sir"

I have always valued teachers in my life, they are the ones who inculcate interest in us, make us feel like learning something new and they are our prime motivators. Well, that’s wat I felt about them anyway.. until I met some of the most hilarious teachers in COEP. One of them was our dear old n gold Sir. (since his cell keeps ringing in every lecture… we wonder if it is a reminder to say his beloved sentence about how he is always confused whether to teach new things or old and gold things. And for your information Sir, all the old and gold things you ‘taught’ us were not even in the syllabus and u have skipped teaching us the ‘new’ things)

The best teachers teach from the heart, not from the book.

Ya.. this quote would suite him well.(books are the last thing he will think of n ya all he does is speak about random things that comes to his mind, except of course, the actual portion.)

One glitch in the quote though-the ‘best’ teacher?
But, he still remains the most entertaining teacher of this semester ;-)and so I just had to make a collection of the endless undying quotes that keep us in splits in class. So here they are:

‘I am not a Xerox man.’( it would be nice to have a Xerox man, like Spiderman na.)

‘I appeal your thinking process’

‘We want bold dynamic students, not only puppets sitting on benches’

‘You are going to be leaders of the society-not by chuchk chuck doing’

When Marathe Sir left the class, after a longer lecture, Wani Sir comes in the class n as usual cracks some joke n then giving an explanation-
‘I know him. He is very sincere, unlike me.’ That’s soo true!

‘That is only copycat concept’

‘Whatever,this we are doing is not a hobby workshop.’

‘something something.. freq. synthesizer,one more story I would like to tell.’

‘that’s why first 5 minute preamble I did.’

‘convert hobby into research,then you will have fun, you will remain healthy, otherwise you will be puppets like us.’

‘you know what is a sober man?’
uhh ya… someone who is not talli right…..but no! its Marathe Sir who had said sorry for not rubbing the board before leaving the classroom!!

I have done simple calculations, so you feel bahut kuch sikhaya’

‘CRis very cooperative, I should ask him to sit on standalone chair’

‘I don’t agree I should get my duster, so don’t waste time searching my chalk.’
ya, he hides his chalks in the classroom after every lecture…. And then we steal dem, obviously.)

And the next one’s my favourite quote of his-
‘blah blah blah… otherwise you are half Indian, half mad. Tumhi sushikshit aahat, susankrut nahi.

So that’s our dear Sir. And he has totally managed to do what he set out to do since his very first lecture where he had announced that he was going to make us ‘very uncomfortable’.

Though I do hope that, however uncomfortably, we should have understood something from this subject at the end of the semester.

into the blog world

For a long time, I have felt this nagging at the back of my mind to writing something, something about what I feel deep inside or something which I notice just like that. And, me being a lazy idiot,I always felt that it take too much effort to make a diary and keep it handy enough that i’ll actually write something in it regularly.
And then, on seeing so many of my friends blogging, I realized – why not give it a try.

So here’s my first blog !! and that too about ‘doing what u feel like doing’ itself! something that I had been ignoring all these days!

Jee Le

Many times I wonder what exactly do we live for? Is it for ourselves or is it just to show the world –oh I have had such a great life and I am so happy. As a young person u have many dreams but why, as u grow up ,why do they all just fizzle away.

What does a 10th standard pass out do when he really loves something like languages, he wants to learn many new ones , get a diploma in them, etc; or maybe someone who is totally interested in archeology. Will her parents, the society allow him to follow his dream without any resistance. They would always say – go for a field like engineering or medicine where they feel she would have a more safe career. I know people say that yes times are changing now, people are more open minded now; but are they really? It is all good if our neighbour’s child is facing this problem, u would say- let him go ahead and follow his dream, but when its our own child we don’t allow it! What a hypocrite we all are!

And as a result, our desires, our most treasured hobbies take a backseat to our work. Yes, we do need to work to earn money, u do have to survive, but do u have to stay back to impress ur boss so that soon u’ll shift from a house at Andheri to one at Bandra. And in the bargain, give up ur most treasured activities, not go for those treks, not learn photography and many other such things that u always wanted to do. Someone who could have written the most amazing novels may be just sitting there struggling with numbers.

I wonder why acceptance by society is such an important issue in a person’s life. Without realizing,one day, he would suddenly be this 40 year man sitting in a posh office, having his luxury car waiting for him downstairs. Ya he might look like a successful man to many, but I feel was it really worth it for him?

Why do we spend a majority of their life running behind money (or whatever it is that the world normally counts as good , at a younger age), forgetting to enjoy the little joys that our life gives us, forgetting to live every moment to the fullest!!

Nobody knows what we are born for really, but its surely not just to do something we dont like, or remotely majority of the time , just to rise to a higher status in society. And we really have to realize this now, before we get absolutely used to the idea of missing out on the most important pleasures, before we feel that no ones dreams really get fulfilled so no big deal if mine dint come true, before we forget wat we want to really live for!! It time we realized that sayings such as- Dance like no one’s watching and Live each day like its ur last one aren’t just sayings but something that should form the foundation of our life.
Its time we REALLLY LIVED OUR LIFE!!!
